Expert Trenchless Sewer Line Repair in De Pere, WI from Hockers Home Services

When a sewer line fails, the thought of extensive excavation tearing up your yard, driveway, and landscaping can be just as stressful as the plumbing problem itself. Fortunately, Hockers Home Services offers a modern, minimally invasive solution: expert trenchless sewer line repair. Serving the De Pere, Green Bay, and greater Northeast Wisconsin area, we provide a confident, neighborly approach to solving your most complex sewer issues without the mess and disruption of traditional methods. We understand the unique challenges our local climate and soil conditions present, and we’re here to deliver a permanent, professional fix with five-star comfort care.

The Problem: When Your Sewer Line Needs Attention

Sewer line issues are often hidden until they become a major, unpleasant emergency. For homeowners in De Pere and surrounding Brown County communities, several factors contribute to the deterioration and failure of underground pipes.

Common Causes of Sewer Line Damage in Northeast Wisconsin:

  • Tree Root Intrusion: Mature trees are common in our established neighborhoods. Their roots naturally seek out water sources, and even the smallest crack or loose joint in a sewer pipe is an open invitation. Once inside, roots grow, causing blockages and eventually cracking or crushing the pipe.
  • Pipe Corrosion and Deterioration: Many older homes in Green Bay and De Pere have sewer lines made of materials like clay or cast iron. Over decades, these materials can corrode, rust, or simply break down, leading to leaks and collapses.
  • Ground Movement and Freezing/Thawing Cycles: The harsh Northeast Wisconsin winters, with their repeated freeze-thaw cycles, put immense stress on underground infrastructure. Shifting soil can cause pipes to separate at the joints or create “bellies” (sags) where waste and debris collect, leading to chronic clogs.
  • Blockages and Grease Buildup: Foreign objects, excessive grease, and non-flushable items can create severe blockages that traditional snaking cannot resolve, indicating a deeper structural problem.

If you’ve noticed slow drains, gurgling toilets, foul odors, or sudden, lush patches of grass in your yard, it’s time to call Hockers. We use advanced camera inspection technology to accurately diagnose the problem without any guesswork.

The Solution: Minimally Invasive Trenchless Sewer Line Repair

Trenchless technology has revolutionized sewer repair, offering a durable, long-lasting solution that preserves your property. Instead of digging a long, destructive trench across your lawn, Hockers uses one of two primary methods, both requiring only a small access point.

1. Pipe Lining (Cured-In-Place Pipe – CIPP)

Pipe lining is a repair method that essentially creates a new pipe inside the old, damaged one.

How it Works:

1.  Inspection and Cleaning: The existing pipe is thoroughly inspected with a camera and cleaned to remove any debris, roots, or scale buildup.

2.  Liner Insertion: A flexible, resin-saturated felt tube (the liner) is inserted into the damaged pipe through a small access point.

3.  Curing: The liner is inflated, pressing the resin against the walls of the old pipe. The resin is then cured (hardened) using hot water, steam, or UV light.

4.  New Pipe: Once cured, the liner forms a seamless, jointless, corrosion-resistant pipe that is structurally sound and often stronger than the original.

Benefits of Pipe Lining:

  • Seamless and Durable: Eliminates joints where roots and leaks typically start.
  • Improved Flow: The smooth interior surface often improves the flow capacity compared to the old, rough pipe.
  • Ideal for Minor Damage: Perfect for pipes with cracks, small holes, or root intrusion where the pipe structure is mostly intact.

2. Pipe Bursting

Pipe bursting is used when the existing pipe is too severely damaged—collapsed, severely bellied, or completely deteriorated—to be lined.

How it Works:

1.  Access Points: Two small access points are dug: one at the beginning and one at the end of the damaged section.

2.  Bursting Head: A new, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe is attached to a specialized bursting head.

3.  Fracturing the Old Pipe: The bursting head is pulled through the old pipe. As it moves, it fractures the old pipe and pushes the fragments outward into the surrounding soil.

4.  Simultaneous Replacement: The new HDPE pipe is simultaneously pulled into place, replacing the old line with a brand-new, durable pipe of the same or even larger diameter.

Benefits of Pipe Bursting:

  • Full Replacement: Provides a complete replacement of the sewer line.
  • Increased Capacity: Allows for upsizing the pipe diameter if needed.
  • Long-Term Reliability: HDPE pipe is extremely durable, flexible, and resistant to corrosion and root intrusion.

Why Choose Hockers for Trenchless Repair in De Pere?

Choosing the right plumbing partner is crucial, especially for a major repair like a sewer line replacement. At Hockers Home Services, we combine cutting-edge technology with the honest, neighborly service that Northeast Wisconsin residents expect.

Minimizing Disruption, Maximizing Value

The primary advantage of trenchless repair is the minimal impact on your property. We save you the significant time and expense of restoring your lawn, garden, driveway, or patio after a traditional excavation. This is particularly valuable in the densely populated areas of De Pere and Green Bay, where property lines are close and preserving landscaping is a priority.

Expertise You Can Trust

Our technicians are highly trained and certified in the latest trenchless technologies. We don’t just offer trenchless repair; we specialize in it. This expertise ensures that we select the correct method—lining or bursting—for your specific situation, guaranteeing a repair that lasts for decades. We stand by our work, offering warranties that give you peace of mind.

Local Knowledge Matters

We are a local company, deeply familiar with the infrastructure and environmental factors of Brown County. We know that clay pipes are common, that tree roots are aggressive, and that the frost line can be a major issue. This local knowledge allows us to diagnose problems faster and implement solutions that are specifically designed to withstand the rigors of the Northeast Wisconsin climate.

Our Commitment to Transparency

Before any work begins, you will receive a detailed, transparent estimate. We explain the process, the technology, and the cost breakdown clearly. There are no hidden fees or surprise charges. Our goal is to make a stressful situation as straightforward and manageable as possible.

The Hockers Process: From Diagnosis to Durable Repair

Our commitment to quality service is evident in every step of our trenchless repair process:

1.  Initial Consultation & Diagnosis: We start with a conversation to understand your symptoms. Then, we perform a video camera inspection to pinpoint the exact location and nature of the damage. This step is non-negotiable for accurate trenchless repair.

2.  Customized Solution: Based on the camera footage, we recommend either pipe lining or pipe bursting, explaining why that method is the best, most cost-effective, and most durable solution for your home in De Pere or Green Bay.

3.  Preparation: We establish the necessary small access points—often just a cleanout or a small, strategic hole—and prepare the pipe by hydro-jetting to ensure a clean surface for the new liner or pipe.

4.  Execution: Our skilled team performs the trenchless repair, often completing the entire process in a single day, a fraction of the time required for traditional digging.

5.  Final Inspection: We conduct a final video inspection to confirm the integrity and quality of the new sewer line, ensuring it meets our high standards and is ready for decades of reliable service.

6.  Site Cleanup: We restore the small access points and leave your property cleaner than we found it, honoring our commitment to minimal disruption.

Trenchless Repair vs. Traditional Excavation: A Clear Choice

While traditional “dig and replace” methods are sometimes necessary, trenchless repair is the superior choice in most scenarios, especially for homeowners who value their property and time.

  • Feature – Trenchless Sewer Line Repair (Hockers) – Traditional Sewer Line Repair (Excavation)
  • Property Damage – Minimal (1-2 small access points) – Extensive (long trench across yard, driveway, etc.)
  • Time to Complete – Often 1 day – Multiple days to a week (plus restoration time)
  • Restoration Costs – Very low (minimal landscaping repair) – High (replacing concrete, landscaping, etc.)
  • Durability – Excellent (seamless, modern materials) – Good (new pipe, but still has joints)
  • Upfront Cost – Can be higher than the digging cost alone – Can be lower than trenchless, but total cost (with restoration) is often higher
  • Invasiveness – Low – High

For homeowners in De Pere and Green Bay, the choice is clear: trenchless repair from Hockers is the smart, modern, and responsible way to protect your home and investment.

We have called Hockers for our plumbing issues for 19 years. They have always been curious, friendly and very reliable. I had a plumbing issue yesterday and they were here today. I had a scheduling conflict today. I called them early and told the friendly ladies at the office. She got ahold of the plumber he switched his schedule to fit me in earlier. Thank you very much for your outstanding service over the years. You want to call these people. You won’t regret it.

Would definitely recommend. Water heater started to leak on a Sunday morning, called Hockers and they put me on the first appointment the next day to diagnose the issue. Todd provided multiple options and we had a new water heater within 24 hours. Price seemed competitive and within what I was expecting, but admittedly did not shop around. Friendly service throughout. Highly recommend.

We had a very minor gas leak happening with our 20 yr old furnace and needed a new valve on the gas line. This was our first call ever to Hockers for help. Matt was very knowledgable, explained what needed to be done, left to go get the part 45 min away and came back to finish the job. He was professional, efficient and kind and did a great job. From my call to Lisa this morning, who was also very pleasant & kind, to the end of the repair, it all was a great experience. The cost was expected and fair on a 20 yr old furnace. Hockers is my new go-to when needed for heating/cooling/plumbing/electrical! Thank you!!

Royce’s completed a basic inspection of the electrical supply system to a field power station for a pond aerator & irrigation pump from the electrical breaker to the end users about 100+ feet away. He did not find anything defective but helped me understand how the long run of supply wiring and the relatively small amp draw “could” result in the 20 amp breaker failing to trip when expected to do so. Royce offered a solution for better protecting the aerator pump which I will follow-up on with Hockers later. The price for the basic inspection ($288) seemed high, but Royce hinted that some portion may be applied to the future work if I decide to move forward.
